Sapphire Products sets the standards for flatness and surface finish. Our strong product development team uses industry standard measurement techniques, such as AFM, X-ray rocking curves and surface analysis to study surface and crystalline quality of substrates. C-axis [0001] wafers precisely oriented to within ± 0.25° and primary flat tolerances to ± 0.5° are available in 2" diameter. Other sapphire orientations, misoriented substrates, and wafer tolerances are available. Sapphire lenses are custom fabricated in sizes ranging from 1/4 in.sq. up to 4 in. dia with ±0.001 in. tolerances in plano-convex, -concave, meniscus, and dome configurations. Suited for use as protective lenses for night vision systems, cameras, telescopes, and sensors, sapphire exhibits Moh 9 hardness which is second only to diamond (Moh 10) and is highly resistant to chemicals, abrasion, and extreme temperatures to 1,000°C. Featuring surface finishes to 40-20 scratch-dig, depending upon size and configuration, lenses can incorporate focal lengths from 3/4 in. to 1000 mm and greater.
